For those of you dog lovers, i am sure that sometime in your life you have heard people say that pit bulls are viscous.

Have you ever believed this to be true?

Pit Bulls are one of the most determined dog breeds. Everything they do, they do it with such intensity and compassion.

Because of this, people actually think that these dogs have lock jaw – this isn’t true.

If you look at the jawbone structure of the Pit Bull, you will see that their structure is the same as many other dogs that “don’t” have lock jaw. All that they have is the determination to not let go when they don’t want to.

They also say that all Pit Bulls are viscous. This is also FALSE. These dogs are ONLY known as vicious because people breed them to fight. So all it boils down to, is that there are NO bad dogs – ONLY BAD people.

Another trait that people often confuse is – People think that a dog who is aggressive towards a dog will also be aggressive to a human. These are two different things completely. This breed are normally extremely loving and loyal dogs, and they will only be vicious if they are bred to attack a human.

Then, people tend to be scared when it comes to adopting a pit bull without knowledge of their background. They shouldn’t be. These dogs shouldn’t be judged for their past, that wasn’t their fault. They should be judged on their current behavior and manners. Rescued pit bulls tend to be surprising loving and beautiful towards people regardless of how they were once treated. They are really forgiving.

Then, people lastly tend to feel that adopting a puppy is always better than adopting an adult, so that you can have that dog grow up your way” and know their path. Both the environment in which the dog grows up and genetics play a role in how the dog will turn out. But generally you will only be able to tell just how a Pit Bull will be once they are an adult. A Pit Bull puppy who grows up with sisters and brothers may turn out to be somewhat aggressive towards them as an adult. This isn’t guaranteed, but its possible. So, it is also a great idea to adopt an adult Pit Bull – they equally deserve a home. And they will equally be the best friend you never had 🙂

Remember – buying or adopting a dog is a lifetime commitment.
