Great Dane Facts
These dogs are said to come from Germany
They were said to be bred from the Irish Wolfhound and the English Mastiff
They were used to take down wild boars. They needed the dogs strength and bravery
Today, these dogs are known as gentle giants – this gentle gene was bred into them. As before in the past they were known to be quite viscous.
It is said that these dogs were known to “scare” away ghosts and evil spirits
They are HUGE dogs with a height of 2.5 to 2.8 feet.
They are said to live between 6-8 years.
The female is said to weigh between 99–130 lbs (45–59 kg) and the male between 120–200 lbs (54–90 kg)
The Great Dane is the official dog of Pennsylvania
These dogs will be 1-2 pounds when born, and within a year they can weigh up to 100 pounds.
These dogs can mature until 3 years of age
