Does My Dog Love Me?
I sometimes sit and think to myself that my dog just uses me for food. But then, when i wake up in the morning – and my dog has already been fed, and they run up to me, tail wagging and so so so happy to see me. This makes me realize that my dog does in fact love me, in their own way.
There were once tests done on dogs with an MRI machine, that showed dogs show positive emotions just like humans do. Have you ever noticed that when you are sad and or happy your dog empathizes with you?
We show our dogs tons of love – including tummy rubs, and tasty snacks. But your dog can’t do for you what you can do for him. So while your dog isn’t able to bring you a beer from the fridge, they can bring your their favorite toy – and trust me, to them this is them showing you TONS of love.
Then, if your dog gets excited (very excited) when you come home from work, then you know they missed you A LOT and that they LOVE You a lot 🙂
If your dog does to everyone who walks in the door, don’t feel sad! Your dog may just have a lot of love to give.
They say that a dogs expressions show their love for you too. Apparently dogs are known to raise their left eyebrow when they see their mom 🙂 and their right eyebrow when they see a stranger. Saying this they show more facial expressions for people that they do know.
The same concept applies for their ears – studies show that if the dog is around someone they have a bond with they shift their left ear, and similarly they shift their right ear when they are cautious or around strangers.
Studies show that if your dog looks at you in your eyes they are showing you a strong connection. I know if i am sitting doing something, i find my dog sometimes just staring at me. 🙂
There is a hormone called Oxytocin – this hormone makes you feel love and affection (they say Oxytocin is released when your pup looks at you)
If that isn’t proof enough i don’t know what is!
You know how they say yawning is contagious? Well. Apparently your dog is known to yawn when you do – this is to empathize with you. They are more likely to do it with you, and not a stranger. This is because they have a bond with you, and wouldn’t have to or want to empathize with a stranger.
I can safely say my dog loves me. She can be dead asleep in the kitchen, and the minute she hears my voice she more often than not comes to find me. And then of course, if there is food around, she will also be around 😉
