Boxer Facts
Don’t you just love that face?
Boxers are intolerant of hot weather, so be sure to not leave them in the scorching sun
They are bred to be a guardian, but unfortunately they are also bred to be bull-bait too.
They have short hair, and come in a few different colours. Varying from – Fawn, Brindle, sometimes with a white/black mask.
The Male boxer will weigh approximately: 65-80 lbs (30 to 36 kilograms). While the Female will weigh between: 50-65 lbs (22 to 30 kilograms).
With a height of 24 inches in the male, and 22 inches in the female.
These dogs have droopy eyes, floppy ears (often cropped to make them stand up straight) and a flat face.
You may find that often people dock the dogs tail
They have a high tendency to drool, and a moderate tendency to snore.
They are not dogs who bark very often. But they are known to talk to you (which may sound like a subtle growl)
And luckily along with this their tendency to dig is also low.
They do well with other dogs if they are brought up knowing other dogs, but they can attack dogs and cats if they are not known to them.
They have a high social need – so be sure to interact with others to keep your pup stimulated. You should give your dog at least 30 minutes of exercise a day. They have a high energy level. So if you don’t exercise these dogs they can become destructive.
They were developed in Germany in the 19th century, and after being used for bull baiting they were used as butchers helpers to help control the cattle.
These dogs are said to live around 8-10 years
These dogs are muscular and powerful. But they are fond of kids. So they can be a great family dog who will keep your kids busy playing outside. 🙂 <3
