Canine Influenza
This is a virus which is known to cause Kennel Cough
This cough is transferred in small spaces – such as kennels. As Kennel cough is extremely contagious.
LUCKILY though, Kennel cough isn’t deadly and normally takes a few days or weeks to clear up
They say Kennel cough is also caused by a bacteria called Bordetella
This is also transferred between dogs and cats. And its said that a human with a weak immune system can pick it up too.
Symptoms
- Coughing Phlegm
- Sneezing
- Gagging
- Fever
- In some causes pneumonia is known to arise
The virus can be transferred through inanimate objects too, like bowls and toys.
And they say your dog can pass the virus along without showing any symptoms at all
Treatment
- Medication
- Using a air humidifier might help your dog breathe better
- Keep your dog away from any smoke
- Keep your dog away from other animals until they are better so that they don’t spread the virus further
You can prevent this virus by getting a vaccine for your pup. You may find if you send your dog to a boarding kennel they might require proof of these vaccines.
