An Article By John Sommer – How To Potty Train Your Dog In Five Easy Steps

Potty training your dog might seem like a huge task but if you follow these simple steps I am about to give you it will be a lot easier than you might imagine. Everything will seem difficult at first because you don’t know how to do things but after reading this How to Potty Train Your Dog Guide you don’t have to worry no more.

Point #1
The first thing you need to do is to make it clear to your dog that you are in charge. A dog will need a strong leader figure and that is your job as a pet owner. Having a dog is not much different than having a child. It will test your limits at every chance it gets until you have made it realize that you are in command. The best way to do this is to give your dog a little tap when it pees indoor and tell it “bad dog” in a firm voice so there can be no doubt that it has done something that you disapprove. There is no need to yell or to tap your dog hard. The dog will easily understand what you mean.

Point #2
Another point in how to potty train your dog is that you need to not only show your dog that you disapprove but you will also need to show it what it should do instead. Right after telling the dog in a firm tone that you’re not satisfied take it by the scruff and carry it outside. To grip it by the scruff will also be a sign of dominance as that is how the dog’s mother would carry it when it is a puppy.

Point #3
Every day you need to potty train your dog outside. By observing your dog you will easily realize when it is time to go outside. Immediately take the dog with you outside and don’t let it go in until it has finished its business. Use the same command every time to teach your dog what it is that you want it to do outside. When it is done be sure to praise it and tell it that it is a “good dog” in a loving tone.

Point #4
When accidents happen indoor be sure to clean it up the best you know how to remove all smell. Dogs will want to create more “accidents” in the same places if it can sense the smell from earlier happenings.

Point #5
Potty training your dog will take some time to perfect but if you just hang in there you’ll soon have taught you dog that it must go outside to do its thing. Don’t give up if it takes you a week or two to train your dog. That is just normal and every pet owner will go through the same process.

An article by Ellen Aim – Easy Tips On How To Potty Train Your Dog

Owning a dog as a pet is one of the best choices you will ever make in your life. Dogs are the most loyal animals and can help you in many ways especially building your character. But the problem about dogs as a start is how to train them to be obedient especially when it comes to helping them know where to take a piss or even where to remove their bowel.

Potty training a dog while they are on their puppy years is the right time to do so. 3-5 months after they were born is the exact time for them to know where they should go to do their bathroom break and where they should not have it. But how can you train them? How will they understand?

Here are easy tips on how to potty train your dog;

1.Know their bathroom schedules – As an owner, you should know what time you puppy takes his toilet breaks. All dogs are unique in their own ways, since they have different breeds, but the common hours based on study that a dog takes a leak or dump, is 1:30 – 2 hours after eating and drinking water.

2.Place them out or in a bathroom – Once they are about to go, make it a habit to bring them out or lock them in your bathroom and let them do their “thing”. Give them a simple cycle that they can understand immediately so that once they grow older they will now where to go when they need to have a bathroom break.

For people than are living in Condo’s and you have a hard time adjusting your schedule to do their bathroom breaks, just simply lock them to your bathrooms and wait a few minute till you see they already pissed or removed their bowel.

3.Praise or clap your hands when they did outside or in the bathroom, scold them if they don’t –

Just like 3 years old baby, Puppies can see right from wrong based on a person’s expression. Once a puppy do the right job, when you show them that you are happy, they will slowly register it to their thoughts that it was okay to do what they did. If they did not remove their bowel or piss in the right direction that you wanted them to do it, scold them by hitting them with a paper or anything that may sound with a bang, but does not create any pain, for them to understand that what they did was wrong. Other people even let them smell their own urine or stool just to let them know that what they did was wrong.

Please take note; it is not wrong for you to hit them with something that can create a loud bang like a paper, since dogs are not children and sometimes to point them to the right direction is to show them that you are in command.

When you hit a dog with a paper or anything that will create a large sound and isn’t painful is not showing any animal cruelty, it is simply pointing them that they are wrong. Dogs need to be guided like that since they do not think like us, and they need a little fear in them to be disciplined. After awhile you will notice as the month’s progress, you will notice that even when they are in another house they will know where to go once they want to take a piss or remove their bowel.

An Article By Matt LeClair – How To Potty Train Your Puppy Successfully:

How to potty train your dog is a very common question that many new dog owners have when they first get the furry little friend home. There are a number of steps involved in potty training a new dog and some are more important than others, but they all should be considered when you go through your routine of getting your dog trained.

The first and most important strategy for potty training your dog is to develop a plan and stick with it. It’s very important that you remain consistent in your potty training efforts, no matter what those might include.

If you are consistent, your dog will also begin to develop a consistency with regard to when he or she has to go outside. Example, if you take your dog out once an hour, then he will begin to sense the time when it will be time to go outside, and he will also begin to associate going potty with going to the bathroom.

Another tip on how to potty train your dog is to reward good behavior, not discipline bad behavior. You could reward him or her with a treat, toy, or other types of dog supplies for portraying good behavior. Positive reinforcement for proper behavior is always more affective than the other option. One reason that positive reinforcement is always better than disciplining your dog for bad behavior is that dogs feed off of positive human attention, and when they begin to see that doing things that make you happy, will also benefit them in the long run because they too are rewarded.

Finally, if you wish to be successful in potty training your dog, then you’ll have to learn to be patient with the process as it takes time to potty train your dog. Remember that when your dog is just a puppy, he’ll have a hardy time controlling his bodily functions because they are smaller and still in training mode, so you’ll want to take him out more often. As your dog grows, he will be able to hold it longer and longer. Once you’ve got the routine down and your dog is successful at becoming potty trained, you’ll be much happier and satisfied that you stuck with it.
