Things That Are Poisonous To Dogs
FOODS
- Certain chocolates are toxic to dogs. There is something called Theobromine (which is a lot like caffeine) in chocolate which is what is actually toxic. Darker chocolate normally has more Theobromine – so this means that it is more deadly to dogs.
- A few gums and candies have Xylitol, this is a sweetener. This is also toxic to dogs.
- Raisins and Grapes too.
Both Theobromine and Xylitol cause a drop in their blood sugar levels as well possibly liver failure.
Raisins and grapes can cause kidney failure.
INSECTICIDES
- organophosphates in these insecticides can be very deadly to dogs even in small amounts
RAT POISON
- Can result to internal bleeding
- Brain swelling
- Kidney failure
- Vomiting
HOUSEHOLD CLEANERS
- Any cleaners can be harmful to your dog. Even the ones that say “safe and natural”
NSAIDS
- Things like ibuprofen – can cause ulcers and possibly kidney failure
HUMAN ANTI-DEPRESSANTS
When ingested can cause:
- Sedation
- Tremors
- Seizures
COLD OR COUGH MEDICINE
When ingested can cause
- liver failure
- dry eye
ADHD/ADD MEDICINE
When ingested can cause:
- Seizures
- High body temperatures
- Heart problems
- Life threatening tremors
CARPROFEN
This is a drug made for dogs – it helps with inflammation and pain.
When to much of this is taken –
- This can cause acute kidney failure, and stomach ulcers.
